"Which one first?, Does Fanaloza or the Refinery?
was a gamble to know in real time which of the two industries more accurately Penco announce the arrival of the new year by sounding their sirens and whistles. The children stayed with her ear glued to the radio, he was writing down the minutes count down. And when he was very close for the night 12 of those 31 December, had to unfold to see if it Fanaloza siren or whistle would sound the refinery the first. Competition.
The sound of the siren potter electric alarms evoked World War II that showed in the movies. When there were air raid alert, there were the sirens to announce it and get with it people seek refuge.
The whistle of the refinery was older still, a relic even for the twentieth century. He recalled his powerful litany booming years of the Industrial Revolution. It was the most characteristic audio Penco. It seemed like the roar of a response stubborn mythology, the roar of a Tyrannosaurus surprise lurking in the woods or a ship lost in the storm. I could not describe otherwise the ring so special whistle refiner. That sound, however, was dapper, sound and robust. Stay in tune even in the highest and longest of his tone. We felt at home when we heard the bleating long snore.
Why refiner no manager came up to have made New Year's whistle a popular event? "This is that people could see the preparations, setup and actions of the key that gave way to steam burning was whistling the whistle? These are questions for which no response.
The question today is whether it warrants where is the whistle of the refinery? Because it must be somewhere. Will it be launched and left by the wayside somewhere in the industry? If so would it be possible recover and take back the whistle Penco Refinery operating again? Imagine a new year sunset: the whistle recovered with a couple of engineers that make it work, turning on a kettle, boiling water, get high-pressure steam and just at midnight to make it sound, as in their heyday. Would not a national event and an honor for Penco? How much will it?
