JOKES IN THE PENCO SUBTERRA PENCO A Lirquén

P commendable was a thriving mining town with coal mines of Lirquén, the peak and the Cerro Verde mine Cosmito. Therefore, it was common to see workers in the coal through the streets equipped with their outfits: black hull, with its electric light and heavy front coveralls. The major miners wore a girdle made of flour bags quintaleras. With this belt around the waist and chest as tight. It was a rudimentary precautionary principle to avoid pain to the kidneys or the spine due to a job that required them to be always stooping or crawling through the narrow scroll underground galleries.

The mischief was not absent in these dark work of the subterra pencona. According to old miners tell Lirquén a common joke was a grab at the rear. In the absence of light, affected could not identify the assailant who was protecting anonymity. The victim uttered a cry or hit a doodle, is clear evidence that had been subjected to a grab, scream which in turn unleashed the collective laughter in the depths. Another

grace in the tasks was a little more bold and was to give a little bump from the bottom up with the palm of the hand on the genitals of the victim. At this size, the coal miners called it "a moose."

operations manager Lirquén mine, as identified who told me this story, was an Englishman Sydney called Raby, known among workers as Mr. Raby. At one time the executive down to the depths of the mine to see the work in front of tillage, where the miners struck with their pikes (iron bars) and with all his forces the walls of coal, and where other shovel loading trucks to carry the ore to the surface. To get there, mister Raby, a tall, bunting, had to move on all fours a long stretch of a narrow gallery followed by a gang of miners. In the dark and prevented from trying to look back suffered the humiliation of "a moose." He screamed and threw a tremendous swearing in English. But, as was the top leader, all who heard it had to contain his laughter.

After the exit of turn, in bars and cantinas of Penco, miners star in this uproarious laughter workshop with impunity the condition of the circumspect Mr. Sydney manager Raby, unusual event that was recorded in the oral culture of ancient Penco miners. The author of the irreverent joke was never identified.

OF VERSES IN A RHYTHM OF THE

This original cueca narrating a walk between Playa Negra and Lirquén, was created by artist Enrique Valderrama pencón. It is very creative and experiential, a record that should hear and applaud all pencones. Valderrama discovered the beauty of the journey on foot along the railway line in the manner of the traditional "Going to Puerto Aysen. Only an inspired artist as he could discover the poetry behind the experience of walking down the line stretched between two points. Congratulations to Henry, to whom I have the pleasure of meeting yet.

CUECA COOLER SEA

l E Penco sea is cold, as in most of the coast of Chile. The phenomenon is due to the Humboldt Current carries cold water of the southern latitudes. So we must be brave to go into the sea with the intention of bathing. But with a bit of acclimation, the body gets used to the cold and you can enjoy it anyway. In a few days of summer and during certain times you may feel some warmth in that sea ours.
But, is this cool feature that turns the sea in a natural cooler. Hence, some swimmers who want to offer ice wine at the edge of the sea makes a hole in the sand right where the hangover arrives to bury the bottles. Dejan container neck almost in sight, so watch with eagle eye from the beach. After fifteen minutes, the sea does its job and drinkers get a red or white wine cold enough to bring more than once. But, of course, the sea also reserves mischief, depending on the strength of the wave, the botelllas can be pulled from the sand and pulled inward. If consumers are not aware, goodbye my bottle. Do not miss another swimmer or shellfish tripped over a Sobroso finding ...

PENCO ramadas

M and heartily surprised the picture that my friend Andy Urrutia Riquelme recently published on Facebook and I play in this post. The image is the popular party of 18 with cooking places ramadas and then installed on the vacant site, which then would raise the current population of Peru.

If we look, the photo is taken from the corner of Alcazar and Freire street is the latter that dominates the view toward the beach. The left side penconas ramadas appreciate those years, very typical of the rest. Probably the date is 1953.

The ramadas and cooking places were oriented towards Alcazar Street and imagine that behind these spaces was a huge lake of water, the sector where children caught frogs and toads.

That same corner was used in the spring by visiting circuses Penco and were the focus of local community full-featured matinee, vermouth and night. One of the most famous coming to town was the Eagles Humanities. As a way to promote ticket sales, the band played these shows roaming outside there in the corner and was arming the party. For

ramadas is to imagine that these produced boche with loud music through its many metal horns. And as the parties were at dawn, residents have had serious problems sleeping.

An important detail is that the picture is not lighting. So the nights were dark as the mouth of the wolf in that area of \u200b\u200bPenco?

This scene changed after the construction of Peru's population. But the question remains what buildings were there before?. Insurance because they existed and most likely is that the earth began to quake of 1939.
